“THE FRANK DECARO SHOW” ON SIRIUS OUTQ PRESENTS

THE INAUGURAL “fraank MEDIA AWARDS”

Comedy Show To Present Awards March 28 to Those Overlooked in Gay Entertainment

NEW YORK (March 11, 2005) - To recognize underappreciated gay media pioneers - openly gay personalities who opened the doors for Bravo’s Fab Five and Boy Meets Boy, and NBC’s Will & Grace - SIRIUS Satellite Radio host Frank DeCaro has established The fraank Media Awards. The Frank DeCaro Show, the comedy talk fest which just celebrated its first anniversary, is heard from 11 am to 2 pm ET on SIRIUS OutQ, the nation’s first and only full-time radio service created for the gay / lesbian / bisexual / transgendered community.

Sponsored by his foundation, fraank (Fags Recognizing Artists Actually Needing Kudos), The fraank Media Awards will pay tribute to media figures that other gay organizations have been glad to overlook in the past.

Nominees include such undervalued gay media personalities as Food Network host Bobby Rivers, E! Entertainment Television style guru Robert Verdi, Village Voice columnist Michael Musto and Lady Bunny, founder of the annual drag event Wigstock.

In addition, Spongebob Squarepants star Squidward Tentacles will be given the first Golden Caftan Lifetime Achievement Award for his heretofore overlooked contributions to flamboyant TV comedy. The late stand-up comic Frank Maya, one of the first openly gay comedians, also will be honored posthumously for his groundbreaking work.

“If I don’t give these queens a media award, who will? Hell, I may even give myself one,” said DeCaro, formerly the movie critic on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. “I’ve created these awards because dyed-in-the-salon practicing homosexuals deserve the same pats on the back that heterosexual actors get for playing them on TV and in films.”

The inaugural fraank Media Awards are actual commemorative mugs designed to hold sour grapes, and will be bestowed during the on-air ceremony taking place Monday, March 28 at 1 pm ET during The Frank DeCaro Show on SIRIUS OutQ channel 149.
